We create your crowns and bridges without taking a traditional impression!
Before we look at the topic of crowns and bridges in more detail, we would like to draw your attention to a special feature of our prosthetic work.

Instead of the conventional (and often uncomfortable and not always accurate) silicone impression, we scan your teeth WITHOUT X-RAYS using a type of high-performance camera. This modern technology guarantees the highest precision, completely pain-free and without any gag reflex.

You can also see on the computer how a virtual image of your optimal tooth alignment is created. This allows us to check immediately whether any adjustments are still necessary, and if so, which ones. This in turn saves you from having to undergo repeated impressions, which may have been required in the past.

The scanner is guided along the rows of teeth, precisely capturing the contours and surfaces of the teeth and gums. This data is converted into 3D images and, once approved, sent directly to the dental laboratory, where an absolutely precise model and your crown or bridges is then created.

When are dental restorations recommended?

Damaged or lost teeth can be replaced with crowns, bridges or dentures. These restore chewing, jaw and speech functions, whilst also looking natural.

Tooth damage can be caused by tooth decay or periodontitis. In our practice, we provide prosthetics of the highest standard. There are many ways to rebuild teeth or close gaps.

Crowns, bridges, partial crowns and onlays are all types of fixed dental prostheses. Partial crowns or onlays are used when mainly the chewing surface and also the lateral parts of the tooth are damaged. They can be made of gold or ceramic.

Bridges are used to close a gap between teeth. The abutments of the bridge are adjacent teeth which are prepared and fitted with a crown to anchor the bridge element between them. The single-tooth implant is usually a much better alternative to a bridge (for closing the gap). This leaves the adjacent teeth untouched and means they do not need to be prepared.

If a tooth is severely damaged by decay and a significant amount of tooth structure has been lost, the tooth is completely restored with a crown, thereby stabilising it.

The main advantages

Fixed dental prostheses

  • Chewing and speaking functions are restored.
    Aesthetics are restored.
  • The tooth is thus stabilised and preserved in the long term/Alternative to extraction.
  • Fixed in the mouth; do not need to be removed and reinserted by the patient like a denture.
  • No bone loss occurs due to the load on the bone.
  • Adjacent teeth do not tilt into the gap and opposing teeth do not grow into the gap.

Please note:

Fixed prosthetics require particularly good oral hygiene. This involves not only thorough dental care at home, but also regular professional teeth cleaning at the dentist, including check-ups.

Removable dentures

Sometimes a fixed restoration is not possible. In such cases, partial or full dentures can be used. This type of prosthetic treatment also restores chewing and speaking functions, as well as aesthetics.
A partial denture can be used when several teeth are missing and fixed dentures are not possible. A full denture is used when all the teeth in a jaw need to be replaced. The full denture rests directly on the oral mucosa.

The benefits

  • Long-lasting. (With proper care, 15 years or more)
  • Bacteria-resistant
  • Withstand high chewing forces
  • Rarely cause allergic reactions
  • Perfect aesthetics

The treatment

Once the decay has been removed, we take a digital (photographic) impression in our practice. The dental technician receives this data and crafts the perfect dental restoration for you.

The finished inlay is fixed into your tooth in one piece, which has the advantage of being dimensionally stable and not gradually shrinking. This prevents bacteria from penetrating and helps prevent further tooth decay.

Inlays last much longer than fillings and do not need to be replaced after a short time.

All-ceramic inlays offer outstanding aesthetics.
They are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth, can be fitted precisely and last a very long time.
Ceramic is also characterised by its colour stability and high biocompatibility.

The bond between the ceramic inlay and the tooth is created using an adhesive. In contrast, gold inlays are cemented in place.
They are the most durable solution for inlays in the posterior region, as they can withstand heavy chewing forces whilst remaining soft and gentle on the opposing tooth.

Gold is also biocompatible and has a very long lifespan.

And – also worth mentioning: gold inlays are highly recommended for patients who grind their teeth.
